Daily Prophet, Issue 7

Good Morning, students (past, present & future) and faculty!
After a student brought it to my attention I thought it important to list some do's and don't's as far as communicating through your Potter name and through your real name.

DO
  • Post on Ravelry using your real name
  • Post on your real blogs using your real name
  • Email me using either your real name or your Potter name
DONT
  • Post in Ravelry about what your character might be up to because that will be a dead giveaway as to your real identity.
  • Post in the Common Rooms using your real name.
  • Post in your real blogs using your Potter name or mentioning anything that your character may be up to.
  • If you post on your Potter blog any updates to the kit that you are putting together, DONT also post the same updates on your real blog. Someone may still stumble across your blog before the swap is over and discover your identity.
Swap Partner Notification Starting Today!
I will begin sending out your partner notification today and will hopefully have them all sent out by Saturday at the latest. I'll have to send out over 70 emails in the next few days and I want to make sure that I take my time and get the information correct :) If you do not receive your partners information by Saturday night email me right away. I think that I have been very meticulous in going through my list, but if I forget someone I don't want 3 days to go by before you tell me that you haven't received your information. You notifications will be mailed to your primary email address not your Potter email address - unless your primary bounces.

Birthdays
Is anyone celebrating a birthday during the swap period from January 18th to April 4th? If so, leave notification in the comments of this post using your Potter name. Thank you!!

Hogwarts Happenings
Students are still arriving at Hogwarts in scattered numbers. All are excited about the new term and what mishaps it may bring. A 1st year Ravenclaw (we will not name names) has gotten a little carried away and thought that she could fill her glass with a simple Aguamenti charm, but somehow the charm did more than she wished! The Ravenclaw Common room has been soaked with water! Drapes are dripping and cushions are soaked, however there is no water on the floor. What spell shall the Ravenclaws cast to remove this water before their big knitting meeting tonight?

I know, I know!! I'd either use a Tergeo spell which siphons material from a surface or an Evanesco spell, which is a vanishing spell that Professor Snape uses.

Or you could use Scourgify, which is used for cleaning things, or an Obliteration Charm... So many ways I wish Muggles could use to clean up messes.

Oh, and I have a birthday during the swap- January 23

Perpetua Phoenixfire, Gryffindor (since there are two of us)

Well, **pushes her glasses up her nose** since the water is a conjured item, it should dissapear within a few hours. But since several people seem to be uncomfortable, perhaps a hot air charm would allow us to quickly dry our robes.

Of course, conjuring spells are at NEWT level. Even I wouldn't attempt something at that level.

(I love the HP Lexicon)

Oooh, yes! My birthday is March 26th! I can't wait to find out who my partner is. And I was going to say what Fleur said, the tergeo spell sounded good to me...but I'd better do a little research just in case.

As Cassandra H. stated the water should clear up within the next few hours, but in case it doesn't, I would like to invite all Ravenclaw's to Puddlemere's Pad located in the Room of Requirement.

Well, a Finite Incantatem might have worked at the time to stop the charm. Perhaps a Drought Charm may work to dry things up?

My birthday is March 6th!!! Yay for pisces!

If you contact your swap partner with your potter name and then post your kit details on your character blog... your partner will know exactly what they're getting. So be sneaky! :-)

A hot air charm would work well to dry the water, if it can't fade fast enough. We Ravenclaws probably need more than one person to dry off the entire common room, though. The rug is pretty thick--and pretty soaked!

I'm excited to planning for my partner. Let the games and shopping begin.

I went to my pal's blog to post a peek a boo, and I can't be nicknamey there. Can we announce?

I hope you all get the water cleaned up. You could start to get some funky mildew growing in there. Although Professor Sprout might like it for the greenhouses.

Good Luck!

OH NO!!! My birthday is this Friday!!!

My birthday just misses the swap time too. This Saturday. Boo.
Those hot air charms do work wonders, it would be nice to be able to sit on one of the couches in the common room without water soaking through my clothes!

I think Fleur had the right idea with Evanesco. That just seems like it would do the job best.

My birthday isn't until after the swap is finished... sad face...

march 3rd here.

Just another thing to look for...be sure to check what name appears when you send an email to be sure it appears as your character name

Cliodna Trelawney said...

Oh dear! I hope the Ravenclaws got the water all cleaned up. I agree that Scourgifying would work or spell that creates heat to dry everything out.

I'm with Fleur on the Tergeo spell, but it wouldn't hurt to do a little more research on the topic and see what else we can do! :) The idea of sitting around soaking in the common room doesn't appeal to this Ravenclaw very much.

And before I forget~ my birthday is on February 1st!

I, too, have a birthday during the swap - January 27.

I have a birthday during this swap. It is February 11th

My birthday is May 12th. Yippee!

Also, we could use a drought charm, depending on how wet it is. At least we could each use it on our chairs before sitting down.

My birthday is April 13th. A little ways after the swap but I thought I'd through it in.
