I've been thinking about this a bit as the end of term nears, I've noticed a few posts on a few blogs as well so I thought I'd ask here to see how everyone else feels. Will you be keeping your name and persona from this term for next term?
I've almost decided that I will keep this persona. I worked out I can be completely anonymous next time by posting anonymous comments at my partner's blog, and by sending e-cards instead of e-mails. Or I could even set up a new e-mail address ('Your Swap Partner@****.com'). That way it won't matter if anyone remembers who I am in real life (and Ravelry Life too!!). I like being Emma Wigworthy!
I like being Cassandra Puddlemere, myself, but I may be switching houses and may want to surprise the rest of you. That said a certain camaraderie has built up between everyone in the swap already and it would stink to start over. I'll have to think on it more
Next term will not be a secret swap, so hiding your identity will not be a real concern. I think we'll leave the secret part optional, what do you think?
Also, Millicient, this is the first swap in which the swappers had Potter names. Before everyone used their Muggle names.
If I join and if I stay in the same house, I would want to keep the same name. But if I am put in a different house, I think I would want to switch names/personas.
Everyone will be allowed to maintain their current Potter identity and/or blog OR change to an new Potter identity/blog OR use personal identities/blogs. If the swap is not secret everyone will know who their spoiler/spoilee is and opening communicate. Hopefully it will cause a little less confusion, although I personally have enjoyed the secret part.

First HSKS Swap May 1 - June 21, 2007 53 Participated 3 Quidditch matches. Used Swap-bot for Sign Ups and it was a disaster! Note: Swap-bot is not good for complex swaps. Prefects helped track scores. Follow up not very good. No Angel package program Kept no record of bad swappers. I supplied all prizes for Quidditch.
HSKS2 30 Participated Only ran 5 weeks. Began Sign-ups a week before the first swap ended because I was going on a trip and needed to fit the swap in before I left. Changed from swap-bot sign ups to using a Bravenet form. Still lost some registration forms or some of the form information was missing and I had to do a lot of back-tracking. Only 2 Quidditch matches because of the shortened swap time. Follow up still terrible. Prefects a big part of any follow up that was accomplished. No Angel Package program. 1 person banned because they didn't fulfill the swap. I supplied all prizes for Quidditch.
HSKS3 60 Participated Ran from end of September '07 until Oct. 31st. Used Bravenet forms again with same result from HSKS2. Enlisted the help of Angels for the first time. Two Angel packages sent. Follow up still not very good. Prefects a big part of any follow up that was accomplished. 1 person banned because they did not fulfill the swap. I supplied most prizes for Quidditch. I had help from 3 swap members for two of the prizes.
HSKS4 Took a 2 month break from HSKS3. 83 Participating. Running from Jan. 12 - April 4, 2008. Registration strictly through email. Simplified my world immensely! Updated my database to include posting follow up, ability to donate, bounced email notifications, banned swappers from previous swaps, delivery confirmation numbers, date packages were sent/received. First secret HSKS. Swap member decided to blog in character, so many participants followed suit. Character blogs have helped spread the frenzy. Stricter guidelines on weekly posting. Used demerit system for the first time. First time posting birthdays. Created Common Rooms for chatting with huge success. Wrote the Daily Prophet for the first time to keep swap members informed. Well received. First time requiring delivery confirmation receipts. Changed form to ask for prize donations and only 38% said that they could not help out with prizes.

I would like to keep mine but if every one wants to start over we can do that too! ;)
I'm curious to know if the 2nd (third?) years for this swap changed names for HSKS4?

I am changing. I was sorted into 3 different houses so I will be changing houses too. Not telling which one, but I am very excited. :)

Jenean,
So if the next swap isn't going to be secret we won't be using our potter identities?
Clio
I'll be keeping my name--I like it too much to change. =)
I think the secret part means that we can still use our Potter names, but we can disclose who we are on Ravelry, etc. if we like. =)

I think I will keep mine, if possible
Well I am going to keep mine but it is ok they know who I really am ;) I like the whole name thing. I can understand the confusion though!
Minee is here to stay. ;0)
I too would like to keep my same "Potter" identity. It has been great fun. It would make it easier for blogging purposes too.
